Volunteers

Volunteers are the key to the success of the Black Creek Community Assoc. anyone who is looking for the opportunity to share knowledge, acquire new skills, meet new people, discover new challenges and accept new responsibilities is welcome to join our team of volunteers. The rewards are endless.
What can I do as a volunteer?
This depends on you and your personal goals. Some volunteers fill organizational roles, perhaps in planning and leadership, some provide physical assistance in ongoing activities, some provide teaching or facilitating skills while others provide labours of love while making, building, organizing, driving etc. to provide the framework of a successful activity.
Can you see yourself as a volunteer?
Check out the Special Events Page. We are always looking for volunteers for Special Events! Our next event is the Black Creek Community Fair. We still need committee members and we also require many volunteers for the day of the event. The Fair is on September 17, 2011. Come and be a part of a very special day!
How can I volunteer?
Just fill out this form and bring it to the BCCA office.

Thank you!

Meet a BCCA Volunteer: Emily Fairbank
I am a grade 12 student at Vanier, and I’ve lived in Black Creek all my life. I worked at the Black Creek Community Association as a childminder over the summer, as well as having another job, but for the school year I’m job-free to focus on my courses. When it comes to school, I love science and that’s what I plan to pursue next year at university. Outside of academics, I love just about all outdoor activities, and I snowboard, play piano, sing in the school choir, and recently learned to play field hockey.
I think my favourite event at the BCCA is the fall fair as it seems to have something for everyone and it brings back so many childhood memories for me. Other than that, I mostly just like volunteering at the BCCA for kids’ events because they always seem to have such a good time.
I love volunteering at the BCCA for a lot of reasons. For one thing, it’s a great community and everyone is always incredibly appreciative, which makes it gratifying for me. I’ve enjoyed so many activities there over the years that were made possible by volunteers, it only seems fair that I do my share. I think it’s great that we have such a great organization like the BCCA so close to home.
There are a few things I’m looking forward to this year at the BCCA. I’m hoping to sign up for yoga when I can fit it into my schedule, and I should really try and make use of the gym more often! (I think I actually have a punch pass somewhere collecting dust.) I hear there are movie nights starting up in January, too, so I’m sure I’ll show up for a few of those, whether as a volunteer or a participant.
